the inspiration
Our first incarnation was inspired by the bold and curious Boinn. In Celtic myth, she challenged the power of the mystical water well sacrificed herself to create the legendary River Boyne. By doing so, Boinn bestowed Ireland's future with the gifts of arts, knowledge, and prosperity.

Though we no longer carry her name, our purpose still aligns with Boinn's gifts. We want to create better futures for our clients and communities.

the founder
BONNIE BIZZELL has dedicated nearly two decades to helping individuals and families navigate some of life’s most complex moments. She began as a volunteer advocate in 2006, championing patients and families for better healthcare. A decade later, she left the for-profit sector to lead advance care planning in Washington State as manager of Honoring Choices PNW. Under her leadership, more than 17,000 people engaged in future healthcare decision-making, with over 10,000 conversations guiding individuals toward clarity and peace of mind.

Her dad's death in 2021 reshaped her calling once again. Experiencing firsthand how overwhelming and fragmented after-death care can be, Bonnie founded BOANN to offer dignified support—helping mourners honor their loved ones while navigating their own transformations through grief.

A personal health scare in 2023 further revealed the deep connection between healthcare, deathcare, and selfcare. BOANN grew to reflect this full continuum, equipping people with practical tools for healthcare advocacy, meaningful memorials, and everyday resilience.

Bonnie brings an MBA, MEd, and 20 years across business, non-profits, and government. She has coauthored articles in JAMA Surgery, BMJ Open, and The New England Journal of Medicine, served as a technical advisor for the award-winning short film Honoring Choices, and been featured in The Seattle Times and Senior Matters!.

Bonnie encourages everyone to look for the good moments, no matter how small.
